XHTML 1.1 - Served as application/xhtml+xml
Accessibility Statement
official accessibility statement.
This site is created with (the latest in web buzz-words) accessibility in mind. I wanted to create a site that is fully accessible to all people. Whether you are suffering from a site-impairment, or disability of some sort, you will be able to navigate here. XHTML and CSS have been used to their fullest, separating content from presentation. Tables have not been used for layout!
Content and accessibility:
- Links are written to make sense out of context.
- Images All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.
- Complex images include LONGDESC attributes or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.
Visual design and accessibility:
- This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
- This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
- If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
Using HTML designated access keys:
- Windows Operating System/MSIE: Alt [key number] Enter
- Windows Operating System/Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, K-Meleon: Alt [key number]
- Alt + Shift + [accesskey] - Firefox for Windows 2
- Windows Operating System/Opera: Shift + Esc [key number]
- Macintosh Operating System/MSIE: Ctrl [key number] Enter
- Macintosh Operating System/Mozilla, Netscape: Ctrl [key number]
- Macintosh Operating System/Opera: Shift + Esc [key number]
- Linux Mandrake Operating System/Galeon/Mozilla: Alt [key number]
Accesskey's in use on this site:
- Accesskey 1 (Alt [1] Enter) = Accessibility Statement
- Accesskey 2 (Alt [2] Enter) = Homepage
- Accesskey 3 (Alt [3] Enter) = Skip to main content
- Accesskey 4 (Alt [4] Enter) = Skip to navigation

New Window Icon
Anytime you see an
icon, that means the link will open
up a new tab (new window).
Access Keys
Most web browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.
Standards Compliance
- The pages on this site comply with all priority 1 guidelines of W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- The pages on this site comply with the United States federal government's Section 508 guidelines.
- The pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and use structured semantic markup.
If you think our site doesn't conform well enough to these standards, please let us know.
Links
- Many links have title attributes that describe the link, if the text of the link doesn't sufficiently describe the target.
- Links are usually written to make sense out of context. (We're not perfect about this, but we try.)
- There are no fake
javascript:links. All links can be followed in any browser, even with scripting turned off.
Images
All content images have descriptive alt attributes or, if necessary, longdesc attributes.
Visual Design
This site uses CSS for layout and style.
- Most modern browsers have a text zoom feature that you can use if you want to resize the text on a page. Internet Explorer has a limited text resizing feature, but it only works with relative font sizes. This site uses pixel-based font size, but visitors using Internet Explorer will see alternate relative font sizes that they can resize.
- If your browser or browsing device doesn't support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
